Simpson Construction New Offices

As many of you know, Simpson Construction are in the process of building our new offices at number 2A.  We are happy to announce that the ball has officially started rolling!  Things are progressing well with demolition works coming to completion this week.  Building is expected to commence this month, and the team is very excited to watch as the new offices take shape.

Simpson Construction Christmas Party

Well, it’s back to work for most of us now, and for many, it brings with it a time to reflect on the holiday season…and the Christmas Party!  This year, our Simpson Construction Christmas Party was held at the Melbourne Bowling Club in Windsor, home of the Aussie film ‘Crackerjack’.  But, unlike the film there were no flippers, nor any iced-vovo’s in sight, but we managed to keep ourselves entertained with some comical bowling skills, and a delicious BBQ lunch to follow.

Andrew Simpson, Peter Tran, John Agius, Warren Toogood and Darren Berry took out the championship in the end, with a nail biting, and carefully measured win.  Overall, it was a fantastic day and an enjoyable way to end another successful year at Simpson Construction Company.

Christmas Shut Down

It’s a very busy day in the Simpson Construction offices today as we tie up all loose ends before the Christmas Break.  We will close today (Wednesday 21st December) and re-open on Tuesday 10th of January after a highly anticipated and well earned rest!

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Victoria Park Redevelopment Grand Opening

On Sunday the 4th of December, an official opening was held to celebrate the Victoria Park Redevelopment Project coming to completion.  Simpson Construction staff attended to celebrate what was a very proud moment in our twenty-six year history.

Congratulations to project manager Tom Simpson, Site Supervisor Andrew Tait, Leading Hand Pete Bugeja and the many other staff who participated in this project.  The redevelopment not only looks fantastic, but also will provide a great recreational space for the residents of Abbotsford and beyond.

November Monthly Lunch

Image

With Christmas fast approaching, an ever growing list of tenders to submit and two of our larger projects (Victoria Park and Flinders Pier) coming to an end, Friday seemed like the perfect time to have another monthly lunch!

Getting stuck into the spread

The team headed down to Wattle Park to enjoy a BBQ and some much needed sun, which seems to be turning into a rare treat in Melbourne.  It was a good chance to celebrate our achievements and to look forward to what the future will bring to Simpson Construction.

Victoria Park & Flinders Pier

We are coming to a conclusion of two of our larger projects over the last 12 months, being the Victoria Park Redevelopment and Flinders Pier Reconstruction. There were a few in the office that took particular pleasure in demolishing the stands of the Collingwood Football Club’s famous home ground (other than the author of course…) Jokes aside, the job is looking fantastic with only the finishing touches of the landscaping to be finalised

The reconstruction of Flinders Pier is another project set to be complete within the next few weeks. Whilst this has been a technically challenging job, the end result is a credit to the team at Simpson Constructions.

On a final note, a big congratulations to regular author Natalie Ryan (nee Batich) who was married at the weekend. She is now off for a month to the US and Caribbean to give SCC some international exposure (and perhaps enjoy her honeymoon)

AFL Grand Final

As another football season came to a close, tensions were running high in the Simpson Construction offices on Friday.  It was Collingwood Vs Geelong…Pies Vs Cats…Andy, Nat & Tim Vs the rest of the office!

After a great win by the Cats, Kevin couldn’t wait to get into the office on Monday to make his tribute wall complete!

Some may argue that he took it too far when he tried to attack an innocent child though….

Overall, it was a great game, with a great win by the Cats.

Ski Conference, Footy Tipping and Monthly Lunch

The annual Simpson Construction Ski Conference was held last month.  We were up in the wee hours of the morning, keen to hit the slopes of Mt Buller for a day of fun.  Overall, it was a great success with minimal bumps and bruises and some fantastic snowboarding acrobatics by Andy Tumminello (unintentional of course)!

As the AFL footy season came to a close, it was time to announce the winners of the 2011 footy tipping competition.  Congratulations to Kodey Logan, who took out first prize on 146 points…and is now the richest 13 year old in Victoria!  And a great effort by Pat Aughton and Georgia Berry who tied for second on 143 points.

Today, the team enjoyed a feast of dumplings to celebrate the close of another busy week here at Simpson Construction Co.  The monthly lunch was held at Taste Dumpling in Burwood, which is fast becoming a favourite of ours!
